Quarantine

The restrictions imposed by Covid-19 certainly hit us all at the end of March 2020. But when the outside world is limited, the longing for freedom arises on the inside. The inner creativity breaks free. Not only for me. My former student colleague Andy came around with a new project and asked if I had some vocal ideas for a track. I listened ti it and I got the disco fever.

Binary Call

The new project, soon be called Binary Call, consists of four people - musicians, electro artists and roommates. And this is Andy, describing how it happened:

"I started producing instrumentals because I wanted to try out Synthwave. That's probably because I really liked Eurodance in the past. My influences are mainly: New Order, The Flirts, Maxx. Anton, my roommate at that time, joined in and had some ideas how he could contribute to the productions with his guitar artistry. We realized, that it would be better, if we still had vocals on board. We thought, that Karolin could fit in, because she has a lot to do with us anyway. We tried it out and encouraged her a bit, and off we went. Karolin sang and wrote the lyrics. For Boogie Dance we came up to you :) Yeah, this is pretty much the story. Anton played guitar, wrote lyrics for the other songs and helped me with decisions in the production. Sound design, editing, mix and master - that’s what I did."

The Room

Already at the first hearing, I found myself in an orange room, that has neither beginning nor end. Think of it as a giant bouncy castle room playground. Only without a castle. A playground space for you alone or those with whom you feel trapped. After the 30th discussion about whether or not to add salt when cooking vegetables, before cooking or after pouring the water, I went crazy. The only thing that helps is dancing at the cooking pot, flirting while peeling and laughing while eating. That is the Boogie Dance.
