How it went down

Caught between your future self and your past.

That's how I wrote it in the first verse kicked it off. It's about life stages, dreams, signposts, fears, time, freedoms, faith, ... let's be brief, it's about the following question: "Who am I and what's my purpose?"

I wrote HUSKY when I realized that a new path was opening up ahead off me. I was not satisfied in some areas of my life and wanted more, or less. What is my path, what happens next, who am I, where will I be? These are questions that every person surely asks themselves at least once in their life. In 2020 the moment had come for me.

What is it really about?

So for me the time had come and I felt overwhelmed by the sheer range of possibilities of what my life could look like. That's what we call freedom and we should be really proud of that. It's a cool thing to decide for ourselves where we want to be, which path we want to take or when we want to consciously leave everything to chance. But what if we run into a dead end without realizing it? What if we have to wait longer than expected for the right sign, the one mail or the one phone call? Are we perhaps wasting time and energy unnecessarily? It can be energy-sapping, especially when we want to turn our lives around like 180°. All those voices around us and in our own heads telling us what we would do differently. And next to it my own, honest voice, which tries to assert itself. I'm writing this text now a few months AFTER I wrote the song. We even finished the mixing already and started working on new stuff, and I'm still turning my life around. My voice is still screaming out against everyone and living up to the name "Husky Voices“.

Now something positive:

But what if the voice ever fails?

The thing that keeps us going is hope. Hope that we will get to where we want to go. Others have made it before, why not me, you or all of us? What helps me is positivity - I mean it. That may sound too simple or even "hippie", but that's how I always get my hope back. Being positive. On the other hand it is the belief in ourselves that drives us. And the belief that the world, that our God or neutron dust must already know where we end up. And what they intend to do with us.

Well, while all this was going on exactly like that in my head, Mr. Leonard Bernd came around the corner with a little sketch and boom! I captured the moment in words and melodies. He did the amazing rest. Listen to it (in my head) and get inspired.
